Protective Measures against Mosquito Attacks during Monsoons



As monsoons hit, so starts the problem of the pesky insects known as mosquitoes. These pests are very small in size but their bites can lead to dangerous outcomes. As mosquitoes are known to breed in the stagnant waters, the rainy season is the peak season for their breeding as there are ample source of such standing waters. So during this season often people suffer from the mosquito borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Yellow Fever and many more, which at times can be life taking. So mosquito repellents are the need of the hour.

These very annoying pests mainly attack their victims by the smell of their body, carbon dioxide, body temperature and dark colored clothes. They suck on the blood of the victims which helps in the production of their eggs. By their bites they either transmit the deadly diseases or cause skin irritation which often can lead to infections in the long run. 


Mosquito Repellent which are sold in the form of creams, lotions or mists hence work great on repelling away the pests. Once applied on the body they cover its smell and emit their own strong odor which keeps the mosquitoes away. They do not kill them rather keep them away from humans. Today such repellents are available with natural or chemical components.

Another way to keep the household mosquito free is by planting certain bushes or plants which keeps mosquitoes bay, in their gardens or inside their houses. Rosemary, peppermint, garlic and marigold works wonder to ward off these annoying insects. Regular misting of insecticides in the surrounding of the houses can also keep them away during mosquitoes.

Thus during monsoons people should take extra protective measures during monsoons to avoid mosquito attacks.

Essential Oils Used in Insect Repellents

Just as spring or summer sets in people love to engage themselves in various outdoor activities or enjoy such events. But often they face problems with many insects like ticks, sand flies, mosquitoes or gnats that bite and this results in skin allergies. The female sand flies and mosquitoes feed on blood, as protein is required for the development of their eggs. Sand fly bites only causes skin infections, while mosquito often leads to some very deadly diseases. So, for this reason using of insect repellents is the need of the hour.

Though the chemical based repellents available in the stores are very effective in warding off the pests, yet people cannot rely on them as they have proved to be very harmful. Naturally manufactured repellents are thus gaining more recognition which is sold in the form of lotions or sprays. These natural Mosquito Insect Repellent are mostly made from essential oils which are very powerful in keeping the bugs away as well as safe for both infants and adults.


Citronella is very common natural oil that is used in all insect repellents. It has a strong odor which the bugs hate and this restrains them from coming near humans. Many use the citronella candles which keep the house insect free. Lavender has many health benefits and also acts as a good bug repellent. It has a very pleasant smell as well as soothes the affected area. Lemon eucalyptus can repel variety of pests and is commonly used in both the commercial and the homemade repellents. Other effective essential oils are tea tree oil, clove oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil etc.

 Using these natural oils is not only effectual in keeping the pests away but also is very safe.
