Essential Oils Used in the Natural Mosquito Repellents

Due to the dangers of mosquito bites the market is flooded with mosquito repellents that are formulated with various components. The DEET based repellents are most popular among the people, as they can effectively ward off the pests. But many are seen to prefer using the natural based products to avoid the side effects which are often caused by the chemical repellents.

The natural mosquito repellents are said to be very effectual in keeping mosquitoes away from human vicinity. Moreover they are very safe to use and so can be easily applied on children. These products are made mostly from essential oils which not only repel the pests but also soothe the skin.

One of the very common essential oil uses in the Natural Mosquito Repellent is the citronella oil. It is extracted from a grass like plant mainly found in the tropical countries, where it is known as lemon grass. Various studies have reported that it works great against mosquito attacks. Their lemon smell is hated by the insects which bar them from coming near the humans.

Cinnamon oil is another ingredient that is used in the mosquito repellent cream or sprays. It is extracted from the bark of the cinnamon trees and its strong smell is the main repelling agent.  Pure clove oil diluted in water to be used as a spray is a popular way to avoid mosquito attacks. They are also used in the lotion.

These three essential oils are the most used ingredients in the repellents sold in the market. They are safe to apply on the skin and are great in repelling the pesky mosquitoes.
